The Anglo-Italian love affair goes on and on. What started with the Romans has survived through centuries in which both countries have changed profoundly. Perhaps the underlying reason is that the undemonstrative British admire the colour and drama which is an essential part of the Italian character, and possibly the Italians are reassured by “la Flemma Britannica”. It’s a love affair that shows no signs of ending.
